  • Like many pet owners, my dog MUST have THE BEST care available. We have been clients at Baker for 25 years. Dr. Dave Sutherland caring approachable. He takes time to thoroughly examine, explain issues so I understand them (so important), and offer alternatives/recommendations for treatment. The office is pristine, we receive a follow-up call the day after treatment. After diagnosing our dog with cancer, we were referred to a top cancer doctor in Canada. Dr. Sutherland's strong partnerships helped us to see the specialist within 24 hours (time is critical). Dr. Sutherland continues to monitor progress, and we are more than a year in remission! Dr. Sutherland and staff have seen us through highs and lows of dog ownership ("puppy" to "passing"), and have treated us with dignity and respect at every stage. I am honoured to endorse Baker Animal Clinic, Dr. Dave Sutherland and his outstanding staff, and would be pleased to speak personally with anyone considering their services.

  • I want to thank Dr Sutherland,Julie my daughter in law and the staff at the Baker animal clinic for being so caring for my 18 year old JRT. If it was not for a second opinion from your wonderful clinic, my dear dog Gambler would have been euthanized on Saturday on the insistence of the Ganaraska animal clinic. Thank you so much

"Very happy with the experience"

  • Great First Visit. Saw Dr Sutherland with my foster dog, who has a rash likely related to food allergies/possible yeast infection. She was treated with care and attention, it's a hard thing to diagnose for certain, but he was very investigative and also receptive to my trying her on a raw food diet. He gave me several medical treatments, but I didn't feel like it was anything superfluous. This poor pup needs some intervention, as I got her from the shelter like this, and have tried all I can at home/naturally. Dr Sutherland also went out of his way to see whether my 3 legged rescue cat was amputated there (he was!) and gave me the date of the operation. This was very useful, since the shelter had mixed up the info, and it's good to have when assessing his recovery etc. All in all Great First Visit. Shame about the other reviews, as I was nervous coming here after reading them. I'd be back for sure, and would recommend.. Very nice building/set up as well! "I will recommend Baker Animal Clinic to absolutely anyone"

  • Baker Animal Clinic in Whitby is ABSOLUTELY the BEST Clinic I have had the pleasure of taking my many pets to. They are caring, thorough, and by far the most knowledgeable group of professionals around. I have two dogs and 4 cats. The most recent of my additions, was cat #4, now named Jersey. Jersey was found behind my shed by one of my dogs. Jersey seemed, at first, to be very pregnant and I assumed that someone had dumped her after finding out that she was expecting. She even had a flea collar on (no good what so ever). We left her be for a bit, hoping that she would find her way home, but she did not. It was chilly in the evenings, so I set her up in my shed with blankets, food, and a heater, until I was sure she was healthy enough to bring into my home, out of fear for my other animals. I took Jersey for a check up and was given a grave diagnosis. I took her to a vet clinic, not Baker, purely out of convenience to my home. This is a mistake I will never make again. I could not believe that this loving, affectionate cat who was eating, playing and purring like crazy, could be so sick and not pregnant at all. I was advised to be kind and let her go to a "better place." I left her overnight, as they could not euthanize her right away and needed to book me an appointment two days later. When I went to visit her for a bit the next day, she had gone downhill and could barely stand up. I contacted Baker to see if they could help her transition over to "the better place" so that she would not need to suffer, and they said they would fit me in, no problem. When I got to the clinic, Dr. Cheryl Birss and Dr. Dave Sutherland did another examination for me, just to be sure. Jersey had been misdiagnosed and my tears gave way to hope ? Jersey, by the next day, was taken in for an exploratory surgery and it was determined that Jersey had a severe form of pyometra. This is a condition that can be fatal for cats or dogs that have not been spayed. She was FULL of infection, but we were hopeful that we could help her. Jersey is coming home with me today!!! ? She will be the most spoiled cat and have a loved-filled life for as long as she wants to stay on this earth. If it wasn't for the caring and knowledgeable staff at Baker, Jersey could be gone by now, and I'd never know any better. I'm a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and I believe that Baker Animal Clinic can make miracles happen. My many thanks, my admiration and my heart is with them always!!! They may consider this to be their profession, but I feel as though they are angels sent to all of us to look over, care for and protect our furry family members!! I will recommend Baker Animal Clinic to absolutely anyone who cares about their four legged family members!

  • Can't say enough about this clinic! The doctors and staff are all so amazing. They remember your animals and genuinely take an interest in them. I am in the process of moving to Toronto soon, but I will still continue to make the drive to Baker Animal Clinic as I know I would never find another clinic like this one! Great Job Guys!
